About Immersve

Immersve is a global payments company and Mastercard principal member, built to make digital assets spendable in real time on the Mastercard network. We power some of the largest crypto card programs in the world, including Binance, KuCoin, Bitget Wallet and MetaMask, with no bank and no fiat rail involved. We own the full stack, end to end.

Money is moving onchain faster than most financial systems can keep up with. Stablecoins settle in seconds, run around the clock, and don’t care about time zones or banks. Immersve is the last mile between web3 infrastructure and the Mastercard network, turning stablecoin balances into money people can spend today, everywhere Mastercard is accepted, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Our partners don’t have to teach their users a new way to pay. We handle the plumbing, so the experience feels exactly like the one people already know. The next wave of financial institutions will win by rebuilding what’s underneath while everything on the surface stays familiar. That’s the problem we’re solving, and why we’re hiring people who want to build it.

The role

As Lead Data Engineer, you’ll design and build the data solutions that people inside and outside the business rely on. Just as importantly, you’ll tell the story behind the data: helping others understand what the insights show and what they mean for the business.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders and an experienced engineering team, in a highly collaborative, remote-first environment based in New Zealand.

What you’ll do

  • Design and build data pipelines, visualisations and data products that bring together cardholder behaviour, transactions, financial information (especially unit economics) and KYC/AML data.
  • Build dashboards, visualisations and extracts that answer real questions for the business.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of tools and technologies that lift our data capability.
  • Champion data quality across Engineering and, where it makes sense, across the business.
  • Work out which insights we need to deliver our product at scale, in a heavily regulated industry.
  • Document and embed best practice, including performance, automated, load and acceptance testing.
  • Help keep our continuous integration and delivery pipelines fast and easy to ship through.
  • Contribute to testing: write test plans, test your own work, and show others how.
  • Define and track the outcomes that show data engineering is working.

About you

You’re a team player first and foremost.

You’ll need

  • Solid data engineering experience, with a track record of successful data insight projects.
  • The confidence to make Node.js application changes to capture missing data.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency with modern software delivery tools and ways of working.
  • The ability to work well in a fast-paced, cross-functional team.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Worked on a successful, highly scaled international product with a large user base.
  • A strong understanding of financial services, payment processing and issuing-as-a-service models.

You work in small batches and check your work at every step. You’re comfortable contributing to high-level technical designs and mentoring others.

Tech stack

  • BI tools (for example, QuickSight)
  • DynamoDB, plus SQL OLTP and OLAP databases (for example, ClickHouse or Redshift)
  • ETL, data pipelines, real-time streaming and transformation (for example, Kinesis)
  • Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Orchestration (cron jobs, Helm-deployed jobs)

Perks

  • Flexibility: work from anywhere in New Zealand, with five weeks’ annual leave.
  • Support: a people-first approach, with investment in your growth, learning and development.
  • Reward: a competitive salary and share options.
  • Kit: a MacBook Pro and a home office budget.

How to apply

Our process is two interviews and one technical task. The first interview is a general conversation. Then you’ll complete the task, and the second interview goes through it together, along with other technical questions.

We’d love to hear from you. Send your CV to careers@immersve.com.

At this stage, we’re only considering candidates who are based in New Zealand and have the right to work here.
